OTM & STORE CATTLE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Monday 7th October 2019 had forward 1589 store lambs, 111 OTM and store cattle and 59 cows and heifers with calves.
Top in the Autumn sale of breeding cattle was £2100 for and outstanding Limousin heifer and Limousin bull calf from Messrs Fingland, Garmartin. Messrs Fisher, Flathill top was £2020 for a British Blue Heifer with bull calf, all classes were readily bid for with the trade pleasing for the sellers and some buyers leaving empty handed.
Store cattle topper at £1265 for a Limousin bullock from Messrs Robb, Trolane with the heifers from the same home selling to £1190. OTM’s sold to £1071.36 for an Aberdeen Angus from Trolane with Stabilisers selling to 142pkg from Congeith.
1589 store lambs were again a flyer and well short of requirements with more needed in a fortnight to satisfy the demand. Top was an outstanding pen of Texel lambs at £68 from Messrs Peacock, Tower, Dalry.

WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK SALE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 8th October 2019 had forward 1760 prime and cast sheep.
1430 prime lambs were again a sound trade, if anything slightly sharper on the week especially for export weight lambs. Best bred lambs sold to 209.3 and £90 from Messrs Brown, Boyach, Isle of Whithorn, with heavies selling to £92 for a nailer of a Beltex from Messrs McCubbin, Kenmure, Dunscore.
330 cast ewes sold to a similar trade, topping at £95.50 for Texels from Farhills.
With the current spell of adverse weather we would suggest that tails are clipped out and lambs presented as clean as possible to avoid the commencement of clipping.

RETIRAL / LEAVING COLLECTIONS
In the near future we will have 2 departures from the firm after a combined total of 80+ years service.
Robert Thomson (Rab) will retire from the firm on the 31st October 2019.
Robin B Anderson, Managing Director will be taking up a new post as
Head of Livestock with Aberdeen & Northern Marts.
Robin will leave the company on the 15th November 2019.
