SALE OF STORE CATTLE AND OTM CATTLE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas sold 193 Store and OTM cattle at their sale on Monday 17th August.
Store cattle met an extremely strong trade and more could have been sold to advantage. Cows were the dearest yet give the quality forward.
Bullocks sold to average £1063.03 or 220.8ppk whilst heifers averaged £913.98 or 214.23ppk. Top today was £1290 for a Limousin bullock from Messrs Baillie, Camrie and 248.4ppk for a Limousin heifer from Airyolland Farm, Port William.
20 OTM cattle sold to a top of £1228.80 for a Hereford bull from Messrs Porteous, Barbershall and 190ppk for an Angus heifer from RKG Farms, Irelandton.

A fabulous show of 2339 store lambs, a record in recent times for Wallets Marts, Castle Douglas. averaged an astounding £71.72.
Top today was £85 for Suffolks from Glenkiln Farm Partnership, Bettyknowes, with £84.50 being achieved twice firstly from Barholm Mains for Texels and then again for Suffolks from Barnsallie, Glenluce.

WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK SALE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 18th August had forward 2162 prime and cast sheep.
1511 prime lambs sold to average 201.9 (SQQ 202.14). As seen yesterday lambs were cheaper on the week with well fleshed lambs easiest to sell. Top today was £109 x 2 first for texels from Messrs Jardine, Lochhouse, Dalbeattie then for texels from Messrs Clement, Borgue House, top per kilo was 247.4 for outstanding beltex’s from Gelston Castle Farms, Castle Douglas closely followed at 246.3 for beltex from Messrs Adams, Torhouskie, Wigtown.
A much larger show of 657 cast sheep were easily sold although easier than last weeks extreme rates selling to £125 for a texel ram from Drumcruilton with ewes to £113 for Bleu De Maine from Meikle Cloak, Mules sold to £95.50 from Dallars Mains
