76 OTM cattle sold to a firm trade to average a fantastic £1247 for all sold. Top price today was £2059.70 for an Angus cow from Messrs Adams, Torhousekie and 229ppk on two occasions; firstly, for a Galloway cow from Messrs Armstrong, Langbarns and for a Limousin Cow from Cardoness Farms.
Store Cattle sold to £1450 for Charolais heifers from Messrs Armstrong, Langbarns and to £1430 and 281.5ppk for Limousin bullocks from Messrs Harker, Chippermore.

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 4 July 2023 had forward 957 prime and cast sheep.
799 New Season lambs sold to average 308.35ppk. Top today was £160.50 for heavy Texels from Messrs Nicolson, Brockloch and 332.1ppk for Texels from Messrs Cowan, East Lanegate
Cast sheep sold to £245 for Texels from Denty Texels with Scotch Mules to £125 from Straith and Blackface to £96 from Rusko Farms
Due to a tightening of numbers nationally, lambs took an unexpected upturn in trade although only if lambs were full of meat. Plainer lambs lacking flesh although weight, were bid for cautiously so please going forward draw lambs for meat as well as weight and if any assistance is required, please don’t hesitate to ask any of the team – we are only too happy to assist in the drawing of lambs on farm.
