SALE OF STORE CATTLE AND OTM CATTLE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas sold 345 Store and OTM cattle at their sale on Monday 14 September 2020.
Store cattle topped at £1230 for an Angus bullock from Messrs March and Loban, Muncraig, Borgue and 246.4ppk, this time for a Limousin bullock from Cardoness Farms, Gatehouse of Fleet. 178 bullocks averaged £924.75 or 221.4 ppk. Heifers topped at £1150 for Angus heifers from Messrs Sturrock, Barwhanny and 228 ppk for Limousin heifers from Messrs Marshall, Auchenleck. 130 heifers averaged £866.09 and 205.2 ppk. 38 bulls topped at £935 for Salers from Messrs Davidson , Poldean and 225.7 ppk for Belted Galloways from Mochrum Estate.
21 OTM Cattle topped at £1311.24and 223 ppk for a Charolais from Messrs Craig, Cairnhouse – averaging £904.25 or 139.64 ppk.

STORE AND BREEDING SHEEP
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas sold 1692 Store lambs and 1330 Breeding Sheep at their sale on Monday 14 September 2020.
1692 Store lambs continued to sell well, topping at £90 for Texels from Messrs Ambler, Craigdhu and overall averaged £66.25.
Breeding sheep were once again easily sold. 1082 Scotch Mule ewe lambs topped at £126 for a pen from Messrs McTurk, Mackilston, closely followed at £124,twice, firstly from Messrs Kerr, Sauchrie Mains, then from Messrs Sturgess, Cullinaw. Overall average was £105.62 (+£22.16 on the year). Texel ewe lambs sold to £120 from Messrs Black, Hillside.
248 Gimmers topped at £170 twice from Patthall Farms and averaged £155.69.

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 15 September 2020 had forward 1783 prime and cast sheep.
1402 prime lambs sold to average 214 ppk (SQQ 215.3).
All classes were a similar trade on the week and easily sold, with meat key at the moment, these were well short of requirements. Top today was £118 for Texels from Messrs Hiddleston, Rigghead, Shawhead, with top per kilo being 268.3 for outstanding Beltex lambs from Messrs Jardine, Upper Hardland, Balmaclellan.
A smaller show of ewes were again easily cashed topping at £163 for outstanding Texels from Park Farm, Shawhead.
