STORE AND OTM CATTLE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their fortnightly sale of store and OTM Cattle on Monday 22 June 2020.
A mixed show of Cows met another fantastic trade to average 146.6p and selling to £1370 from Trolane, Dalry and to 182p from Netherfauld.
Store cattle were the dearest for some time with Bullocks selling to £1270 from Netherfauld and heifers to £1100 from Barbershall.

WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK SALE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 23rd June 2020 had forward 896 prime and cast sheep.
764 lambs sold to average 236.76 (SQQ 237.50) and a whopping £100.18.
What a trade. All classes were noticeably sharper and well short of requirements.
Top today was £125 for heavy Suffolks from Messrs Brown, Trowdale and also at £120 was a pen of Suffolks from the same home, with Texels from Douganhill Farms also selling to £120.
Best bred export lambs were a flyer topping at £3 for 38kg Texels from Messrs Wilson, West Barmoffity. Twenty pens sold over 250ppk with a feature being a pen of 19 Beltex bred lambs from Messrs Jardine, Upper Hardland scaling 41.2 kgs realising a stunning £117 or 284 pence per kilo. First cross lambs got sharper as the sale went on as demand exceeded numbers, with many pens exceeding 230ppk.
130 cast sheep were much sharper with many more required topping at £137 for BFL Rams from Low Arkland with ewes to £129 for Texels from South Quintinespie.
