Dumfries, Scotland (UK) — 22 May 2018: Former open rallycross champion and double British vice-champion Andy Scott will make his Americas Rallycross Championship (ARX) debut at Silverstone’s Speedmachine Festival this weekend (25-27 May). The Dumfries racer came close to securing victory on his return to British RX at Croft last time out, taking back-to-back heat wins, and will take the wheel of his Motis/Rock Oil/Teng Tools-supported Peugeot 208 RX Supercar.
The first round of ARX will run alongside Cooper Tires World RX of Great Britain, the British round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, with three further races on the calendar, including the Canadian and American rounds of World RX. At this time there are no plans for Andy to compete in any additional events.
Scott contested the 2012 Global Rallycross Championship in a Saab 9-3, before returning to Europe to compete in the FIA European Rallycross Championship in 2013 with a Peugeot 208. Since then he has competed in British, French, European and World RX events, taking numerous race wins.
The Albatec boss has also been responsible for building and preparing a trio of 208s for top line drivers around the world, including that of triple British Rally Champion Mark Higgins who currently leads the domestic series.
Silverstone’s ARX line-up includes former GRC champions Scott Speed and Tanner Foust, the latter one of Scott’s sparring partners from GRC and WRX a few years ago, who will drive a pair of Andretti Autosport VW Beetles. Among the other entries, Subaru Rally Team USA will field three WRX STIs, with former WRC drivers Chris Atkinson, Patrick Sandell and eight time Rally America Champion David Higgins, younger brother of Mark, among the entry. Münnich Motorsport are also among the entries with a pair of SEAT Ibizas for Rene Münnich and Timo Scheider.
Away from the track, the Speedmachine Festival has planned a packed entertainment bill which ensures there will be something for everyone to enjoy. This includes headline live music from the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Lethal Bizzle and Ministry of Sound, Esports, drifting, iconic car displays and the very best street food.

Andy Scott, Team Principal and driver Albatec Racing:
“I’m very excited about racing at Silverstone at the Speedmachine Festival in the new ARX. IMG has pulled together an incredible event with World RX, ARX, and RX2 plus the music festival, and various track demonstrations and displays, and it looks like being a fantastic weekend. I raced in GRC back in 2012, however this will be completely different, but I’m certain ARX will produce some incredible racing. Tanner Foust and Scott Speed will be in very competitive cars, and the Subaru trio equally so, and it will be good to race against them and see what we can do.”
