Chair of Annandale and Eskdale Area Committee, Councillor Ronnie Ogilvie said “Dumfries and Galloway Council recognise the importance of all those who participate in local sport, whether as a competitor, a coach, a teacher, event organiser, an official or indeed as the volunteer behind the scenes who does all the work necessary to keep our local clubs functioning and are now seeking nominations for the 2016 Annandale and Eskdale Annual Sports Awards.”
Lead Officer for Active Schools and Community Sport, Calum Graham said “There were some terrific achievements in local sport in 2015 and it certainly was a hard year to follow. However, school, club and community sport continues to develop, grow and become stronger and there have been some exceptional achievements again in 2016.
He added “Increased participation brings with it more teaching, more coaching, more volunteering, more competition and with it higher levels of performance. Now is your chance to recognise those who have made a significant contribution to sport in Annandale and Eskdale in 2016 or over a longer period.”
Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Council website or by e-mailing [email protected] and should be returned no later than 5.00pm on Friday 17th February 2017. This year’s evening awards celebration is scheduled to take place on Friday 31st March 2017 at the Buccluech Centre, Langholm
