CLOSE GAME FOR GALLOWAY v DUMFRIES UNDER 12s CRICKET

Galloway V Dumfries – under 12s Wednesday 12th August

Galloway U12’s took on Dumfries U12’s at home and it yet again it turned out to be a terrific close game between the two sides. Galloway skipper Sam King won the toss and elected to field which turned out to be a good decision as Dumfries were restricted to 18 off their first six overs. The Dumfries openers came out and attacked and soon the score was in the 50’s whilst the two openers departed. Bowlers Alison Fry, Sam King, Tom Mein and Orla Montgomery impressed and restricted Dumfries to 88 off their 20 overs.

The game was very much so evenly poised as the Galloway opening batters started their innings. Sadly, the Galloway batters found the run scoring rather difficult and throughout the game were behind the run rate. After 10 overs, Galloway were on 38 needing 51 to win off their remaining 10 overs. Innes John batted terrifically and stuck in whilst wickets were falling around him and he was joined by Orla Montgomery who scored a vital 23 runs, but it wasn’t to be enough as Galloway finished on 79 after their 20 overs. Just the 9 runs between the sides echoed how very little there is between the two teams.

A good performance from both teams and most enjoyable to watch.
