Two athletes from Castle Douglas Judo Club and Dumfries Judo Academy are competing on Saturday at the Commonwealth Judo Championships in Malta.
Sam Brown from Castle Douglas and Kieran Carson from Dumfries are representing Scotland at this event, in their first international opportunity. Both boys are part of JudoScotland’s National Talent Development Performance Squad, and have been training hard in the club and in national squad sessions to prepare for this event.
Luke Struthers Head Coach/Chairman told DGWGO Sports News “Sam is fighting in the under 60kg pre-cadet category, while Kieran is in the over 66kg pre-cadet category.
The two boys have been training at Castle Douglas Judo Club and Dumfries Judo Academy from a young age, and have been competing successfully for a few years, both players winning JudoScotland’s Grand Prix series in 2022.
Our club is also looking to recruit new players of all ages 5yrs-adult, if you were able to mention that- anyone interested can email me at [email protected].”
