DGWGO Rugby Round-Up 8/3/24

This time of the local Rugby season is a bit of a mess with a lot of rest weekends and rearranged fixtures but this weeks DGWGO rugby round-up brought to you in partnership with Dumfries and Galloway Rugby podcast brings you all the local rugby news from the last Weekend.

The Stewartry Sirens made it two wins from two in the playoff series to stay in the Scottish
Premiership with a 50-5 win over Ayr at Milbrae. Eight tries in total, and a hattrick from Phaedra Snailham, sealed all five points.

Dumfries Saints Women suffered their first loss in the National Bowl after falling short 26-5 on the road to Marr.

Dumfries Men, on the other hand, claimed a bonus point win away at struggling Hamilton Bulls 39-29 to further strengthen their cause in National 3.

Annan remain seven points adrift at the bottom of West 1 after a 43-10 loss in East Kilbride.

Despite losing 47-29, Wigtownshire did themselves proud securing a try bonus point away from home with a heavily depleted side. Three Forsyth boys, Scott, Neil and Blair, were all on the scoresheet.

Linlithgow proved to be too much of a test for Langholm in the National Shield, 34-13 and
winning their third consecutive game over them this season.

After a long spell without a game, Moffat came back with a bang and put Shawlands to the
sword 50-33 to keep their title chances alive.

Fixtures this weekend:
Dumfries Saints v Berwick
Stewartry v Falkirk
Catha QP 2s v Annan Warriors
