Dumfries & Galloway Police Officer Called Up To Play Rugby 7’s For Scotland

Scotland call for Dumfries and Galloway based Police Scotland Officer

Police Scotland officer Constable Lisa Ritchie has been chosen to play with the Scotland Women’s Rugby Sevens team which heads out to Russia on Wednesday 10 June 2015 for the European Grand Prix Series. Lisa, who is 26 years old normally plays fly half or centre. She currently plays plays for the Carlisle Cougars, having started her career with Annan Rugby Club. Lisa began playing for the full Scotland 15s team back in 2011 and has represented them for three seasons now in the Six Nations tournament. Lisa is a constable with Police Scotland and is stationed at Dalbeattie in ‘V’ Division, Dumfries and Galloway.

The Scotland team are drawn in Pool A in the competition along with Russia, Portugal and Italy and play their matches on Saturday 13 June If successful will play again in another pool on Sunday 14 June. Other teams involved in the competition include England, Wales, Ireland, Spain, Ukraine, France, Germany and The Netherlands.

Lisa says “I am delighted to have been selected to travel to Russia to represent my country in the sport I love. I can’t wait to get on the pitch and be playing in the Scotland jersey again. I have been very lucky that I have been given the support and backing from my supervisors in Police Scotland to enable me to do this.”
