Former British GT Champion Wylie Scores Impressive Podium

Thornhill Race ace Ross Wylie bagged himself third and fourth GT4S category placings in the opening two rounds of the British GT Championship – eight years after he claimed the title.

The Scotsman shared a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport with Valluga Concierge team-owner Benji Hetherington in the two races staged on Easter Monday (18 Apr) at Oulton Park.

Wylie missed out on a debut class victory in the AL-2 Teknik UK backed Porsche by less than eight seconds in Race 1 before being deprived of a second podium by nine-seconds in the shortened Race 2.

Ross Wylie (GB):
Age 30. Born & Lives Thornhill nr Dumfries, Scotland:
“I was happy claiming third and fourth places in the opening two races especially considering we both only got to drive the brand new Porsche on-track for the first time on Easter Saturday.
“Our pace will improve with more experience in the car which in turn will make us more competitive. We actually led at one stage but with our limited mileage and up against our more established rivals, we had to be content with a podium.
“The series organisers have a difficult job trying to equalize the ‘Balance of Performance’ and get all of the different manufacturer’s cars on a level playing field. But we feel that we need a bit of a break concerning the 100kg of ballast we were forced to carry combined with a raised ride height, the latter making things difficult under braking especially.”
