Galloway Cricket Juniors Stumped By Dumfries

Galloway yet again suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of Dumfries on Friday, seeing them lose by six runs in what was another pulsating cricket game. Galloway skipper, Sam King, won the toss and elected to field first and a disciplined bowling display restricted Dumfries to 95 off their 16 overs. Edward Hannay stood out with the ball taking 2-10 off 3 overs followed up by a very economical 3 overs from Sam King who only went for 4 runs. Some brilliant stops from the Galloway fielders on what was a very quick outfield gave them a chance of victory over Dumfries. James Little of Dumfries top scored with a magnificent 43.

Early wickets and a slow start from Galloway hampered their chances of victory, but a brilliant 39 not out from Orla Montgomery gave them hope. An unbeaten 12 not out from skipper Sam King was not enough to see them over the line and ended up six runs short seeing them score 89. Sean Thornley of Dumfries impressed with the ball taking 2-13 off his 3 overs.

Result aside, it was a very encouraging performance from the Galloway members considering that for some of the team it was their first time using the hardball.
