Dumfries and Galloway Council is pleased that all of the arrangements for the delivery of Stage One of the 2019 Tour of Britain, between Glasgow and Kirkcudbright, worked effectively.
A spokesperson foir D&G Council Said “We worked closely with Sweetspot, the parent organisation of the Tour of Britain, Police Scotland, EventScotland and the local community to ensure that Saturday was a safe and enjoyable day out for the many thousands of visitors who descended onKirkcudbright.
We will now wait for the economic impact study which reports on the value of the Tour of Britain day one for the regional economy.
Councillor Adam Wilson, the Council’s Events Champion said, “Kirkcudbright was an inspired choice for the finale of day one of the 2019 Tour of Britain. The town provided the warmest of welcomes to the cyclists and visitors, and looked pristine in the autumn sunshine. I’m sure this event will inspire many people to take a holiday in our beautiful region, and to dust of their bikes and enjoy cycling in Dumfries and Galloway.”
