It was lucky number 7 for Queens Ladies as they got their league campaign off to a winning start with a comfortable away win over Cumnock Ladies on Sunday. With 7 goals for Queens in each half and 7 different scorers in the match, the result was never in doubt. Scorers for Queens were Jordyn Gallagher (8, 33,38), Eve Jackson (11, 21, 65, 69), Alexandra Connon (16), Leona Smith (35), Kirsty Macdonald (53,55), Charlotte Bryden (60), & Grace Gilmour (77, 82).
This season is a curtailed competition, with games being played over the first half of the year to allow future league seasons to align with the traditional August to May football season. The league system is being overhauled to introduce promotion and relegation, and Queens will be hoping to bring their first league title back to Dumfries.
