MOFFAT RAMS STEP CLOSER TO TITLE

Moffat rams faced off against cowal knowing promotion was secured last week, and a win this week would take them in touching distance of winning the 4th division championship.
when the game kicked off it was cowal who looked like the team up for it, the rams hadn’t switched on and cowal took the early lead, in fact it was cowal who looked the more dominant and with the rams trying to get out the blocks, cowal would score again and the rams would be 10-0 down.
Moffat got the chance they needed from a scrum with a brilliant drive to the try line for Calling Dodd to score in the corner, with the usual boot of Mark Smith not available this week saw Ross Crawford step up to fill his boots, unfortunately the kick came short of the posts.
The rams now looking for gaps in the cowal defence, the rams got a break through when Gary Smith dived over the line and Ross making the kick and putting the rams 12-10 up. A well worked play saw Goonie and Clint combine to put in Scott Cochrane but a forward pass would see the try disallowed.
Another great scrum saw the rams win the ball of the head and drive up the park, the ball went out on the 22 but the rams would win the lineout and drive over the line, Cammy Lloyd claiming the try the conversion was short.
Moffat finally getting on the front foot and coming close to try number 4, for cowal to win the ball near the try line and run the length of the pitch to score again, the referee would blow time on the first half, moffat going in 17-15 up.
The second half getting under way the half time team talk worked and moffat put pressure straight on cowal, Dave Steele had a great run from the full back area up to the 22 meter line, the ball going through the phases saw Callum Dodd score again with Ross making sure the kick went over, Rams now leading 24-15. Phase after phase the rams were looking stronger and it wasn’t long berfore the captain combined with Martin Salaman powered over the line to get the rams 5th try and Ross once again made sure with a kick over the post. The rams dominating procedures from 1 to 15 saw a great team effort and an other try between the posts, this time Stuart Burgess and the trusty boot from Crawford to make the score 38-15. Some fantastic tackling from Big Ash and Clint made sure cowal weren’t going to make a come back. Full time 38-15
This result now sees the Rams needing one point in the last game against Argyll and Bite on the 2nd of May to be crowned champions.
The fan support has be great this season and we would love if it would continue on our last game, come along and cheer the rams to victory.
