Queen of the South Ladies sit in 5th place in the Barclays Scottish Women’s League One, only 4 points behind leaders St Mirren, after securing another three points against Airdrie Ladies on Sunday.
Queens weren’t at their best, but with injuries starting to clear, Queens’ captain Charlotte Smith returned to the central defence, with goal machine Charlotte Bryden moving into central midfield.
The game remained goalless until the 32nd minute when striker Lois Geddes turned a cross in at the front post to give Queens a slender lead at the break.
Queens stepped up the pace in the second half but the points weren’t secured until the 68th minute when Charlotte Bryden scored her now customary goal.
Although the overall performance didn’t meet the very high standards demanded by head coach Ross Meechan, the team returned to Dumfries with another win, keeping them very much in the title race.
The Player of the Match award went to Freya Brown, Queens pacey right wing back.
