Queen of the South have teamed up with Dumfries business man William Dempster to offer support to his Dragons Gym.
William who runs a roofing company is a valuable sponsor of the club and as a Mu Thai fighter himself for almost 20 years, he has been training other local competitors at the gym for the past decade.
The fighters who train three or four nights a week have been training at various facilities around the town, so Queens are happy to announce that they will now be using the Queen of the South Academy at the King George V arena.
The successful Dragons are all part time amateurs who compete against mostly full time trained competitors from around the UK.
William, better known as “Wug” says “Dumfries dragons gym very much appreciate Queen of the South’s support. Being able to use the facilities at the QOS Academy will play a massive part in helping with our training and preparations for future competitions”.
Queens commercial manager, Victoria Thomson who has been involved in the deal added “The Dragons are a very well trained, hard working group of elite fighters who have brought great success to Dumfries and Galloway. The facilities the club have at KGV will give them the chance to enhance their training methods and improve their development to compete for more titles across the UK. And we hope they can spread the word of Queen of the South during their travels”.
