Five teams took part in a fantastic day of indoor cricket at Dalbeattie High School on Sunday 31st January. Galloway Cricket Club ran a mixed tournament for members of all ages –everyone was allocated a team which were made up of girls, boys, men and women. Teams were named after Australian Big Bash participants – Galloway Thunder, Galloway Scorchers, Galloway Strikers, Galloway Hurricanes and Galloway Renegades.
An exciting day of cricket which saw some brilliant skills and team work on display made a wet Sunday an enjoyable one for the 40 plus members who took part.
Thanks must go to Henry and Fraser Conn for giving up their time to umpire and score for the day.
After an intense day of games between the five teams an incredibly nail-biting final took place between Galloway Thunder and Galloway Renegades which saw it come down to the very last ball of the final over! In the end it was Galloway Renegades who scooped the win but it could not have been closer and every team fought hard and every member contributed.
Jessica McCulloch was named player of the tournament for her all-round performance as well as her positive attitude and team spirit. Jessica has developed incredibly over the last year and last weekend captained a Galloway Ladies team to victory in a women’s indoor tournament.
