This Saturday saw a good solid start to Stewartry Under 18’s Glasgow West T4 League campaign with a win against Newton Stewart/Wigtownshire .
Newton/Shire played to their strengths and ran ball right up the middle of the park with their big forwards. Stewartry were a match though and tackled well, winning loose ball and shipping out to their excellent back who were on On callout with Fire Brigade scoring 10 out of the 11 tries.
Best on the day for Stewartry were Grant Waugh in the forwards and Fraser Forsyth in the backs. Lots of good open play and handling by the Stewartry backs and some superb cover tackling by Gregor Todd, Oskar Kapron and Lochie Spence to name but a few who stood out.
Oban will be tougher opposition next Saturday and the same players and a few more will be needed to put in the same shift but up another gear if a win is to be had.
