Stewartry 16’s – 50 Newton Stewart Under 16’s 7
Despite what the score line suggests, Newton Stewart played some hard rugby at times and were only down 12-7 at half time. Stewartry’s constant pressure paid off however and the home side ran in another 7 tries in the second half. Fraser Forsyth increased his tally to 5 in the development period, Joseph Strain his to 3 and Archie Holman scored near the end. Picken converted another two.
A lot to work on for the league decider against Kilmarnock at the end of the month. Rucking and ball retrieval will need to improve.
Best on the day for Stewartry was Lochlann Spence who tackled well, handled well and worked hard all day. Well done to the teams youngest player Fraser Forsyth & Glen Duke who both had good games with Fraser scoring a notable 5 tries.
Well done to our friends and neighbours Newton Stewart who stuck to task despite a lapse in the middle of the game, and have come on leaps and bounds this season.
