Earlier this month, the Solway Sk8ing Club travelled to Sheffield with their 3 teams to
compete in the Steel City Trophy marking their second competition of the season.
The competition took place over two days and was a very successful event for the three teams. Day one saw all three teams compete in there respective categories with Solway Comets in the Beginner category, Solway Eclipse in the Mixed Age category and Solway Stars in the Junior category.
Solway Comets were the first team to set foot onto the ice and once again had a breathtaking skate. After leaving the crowd and judges amazed by their performance they finished in first place with 22.45 points. Next came Solway Eclipse who once again wowed the judges and spectators. Their stellar performance ended up giving them the gold medal with a personal best of 58.31 points. Finally, Solway Stars took to the ice with their fun and sassy short program which was nothing short of amazing. After their incredible skate they ended day one with 35.70 points.
The second and final day featured Solway Stars once again skating their fan favourite Free Program. The powerful and theatrical routine was incredible to watch and they ended the competition in Second Place with a total of 102.30 points.
All of us at the Solway Sk8ing Club are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved at this competition. We would like to thank the coaches, team managers, chaperones and club sponsors for making our journey to this competition as successful as it has been.
