SUPPORTERS GENEROSITY HELPS KEEP QUEENS TICKING

Queen of the South fans have again been showing their generosity and valuable support for the Club.  With three donations made.

On Saturday prior to our first home game in the Championship, The Barflies supporters group made a substantial donation of nine thousand pounds to Chairman Billy Hewitson and Under 20 coach, Eddie Warwick to help fund our apprentice scheme for this season.  The scheme has proved beneficial to Queens, with Owen Moxon, Dean Brotherston and Jake Leighfield (all pictured) who are funded now very much part of the first team squad. The Travel Club have also made a donation, pictured are Kevin Hunter and Jim McCormick from the Travel Club with our Under 17’s coach, Warren Pearson and players Adam Kirk (17s) and Charlie Cowie and Rio Little from the 13s as they handed over £240 to purchase training ball for the youth teams.

And Stevenson McConnell, the cabinetmakers from Auldgirth recently bought seating for the ball boys – Tommy Stevenson is pictured with youth goal-keeping coach Speedy Byers as he accepts the stools.

The Club are grateful to all those who have shown their support with the donations.

Commercial manager Victoria Thomson added “We really do appreciate the hard work and effort that people put in to raise money to help us keep the youth system going.  Like many clubs in Scotland, the youngsters are very much the future.  But it can prove costly to run and therefore donations like the ones made recently are of huge benefit to Queens.  We thank each and everyone”.
