The DGWGO Rugby Round-Up 26/4/23

In this weeks DGWGO Rugby Round-Up Dumfries Saints host Kirkcaldy, Stewartry Head to Murrayfield and Annan Swap Grass for Sand.

This weekend, Dumfries Saints host Kirkcaldy at Park Farm for the final league game in
Dumfries & Galloway this season. The last time the two teams met was back in November when Kirkcaldy came away with a 33-12 home win.

Despite The Saints’ fate already sealed, they will be looking to end the season on a high and give head coach Gavin Blackburn a strong send-off in his last game in charge.

Stewartry RFC have a massive few weeks in the club’s history coming up at the start of May. They begin with a National Shield Final at BT Murrayfield against East Kilbride – Their first appearance in a final since 2002. Kick-off is at 10 am on Saturday 6th.

Just one week later, however, Stewartry are back in action on Saturday 13th as they play
Caledonia side Ellon in the play-off final, with the winner taking the final promotion spot into the newly formed National 4 competition for next season.

In other news, Annan Warriors are swapping the grass for the sand as they are sending a squad of 19 to Mallorca for the beach rugby tournament taking place in just a few weeks time.
