THORNHILL RACE ACE ROSS WYLIE’S ACHIEVMENTS RECOGNISED BY SCOTTISH MOTOR RACING CLUB

GT championship winner from Thornhill Dumfries collects second SMRC career award
British GT4 Champion Ross Wylie has been awarded the prestigious Rothmans Trophy.
The 23-year-old from Thornhill near Dumfries received the silverware from Dario Franchitti MBE, the four-time IndyCar Series champion, at the Scottish Motor Racing Club’s Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony at the Sheraton Hotel, Edinburgh, last Saturday (6 Dec).
“I am really humbled to receive the Rothmans Trophy,” commented Ross. “It is great that the SMRC has recognised my success in my maiden season of the British GT Championship.
“It’s an honour to be part of such a great club that has such a fantastic family feel with so many sporting greats as a part of it.”
Wylie, who won the SMRC’s Ecurie Ecosse Hub Cap Trophy in 2012, netted the Avon Tyres British GT4 Championship after claiming three wins and three second places in the 10-race series driving a Beechdean Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage with co-driver Jake Giddings.
Ross attended the Autosport Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London the following day (7 Dec) then the British Racing Driver’s Club lunch in London on Monday (8 Dec).
