October cycling trip to Emirates Arena for Nithsdale children
Pupils from across Nithsdale have been enjoying taking part in many holiday activities organised by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
The Nithsdale Sports Academy has seen a good number of pupils participating in activities such as balance bikes, archery, tennis, football, fencing, table tennis in local venues and a fantastic trip to take part in track cycling at the Chris Hoy Velodrome at the Emirate Arena in Glasgow.
The group who attended the trip enjoyed a tour of the arena and the opportunity to cycle on the same track as Sir Chris Hoy.
Chairman of Nithsdale Area Committee Ted Thompson said;
“The Leisure and Sport team do a great job in promoting healthy activities which improve our children’s well being both within the schools and outwith during the holiday periods. It must have been particularly satisfying for those who visited the Emirate Arena and perhaps we might have a home grown Chris Hoy as a result”
