Queen of the South Ladies travelled to Ayrshire on Sunday for a league game against Kilwinning Ladies. With the teams on the same points total, Queens knew that they would face a competitive game.
Queens took the lead in the 9th minute when a great delivery from Abbie Dunlop was finished off by Haylie Crosbie. Queens double their lead after 18 minutes, Kirsty Macdonald sweeping the ball into the net to round off an excellent passing move. Haylie Crosbie added a third goal in the 31st minute when the Kilwinning keeper parried a Holly Ovens shot and Hailie pounced to knock the rebound into the net.
Queens continued in the same vein in the second half, and with 50 minutes gone, Holly Ovens beat the Kilwinning offside trap and her pace took her clear of the defence to round the keeper and shoot home from a narrow angle. Queens continued to create chances but found the Kilwinning keeper in excellent form. Despite a lot of pressure, Queens couldn’t add to their 4-0 lead, and the final whistle went with Queens taking the three points back to Dumfries.
Queens have a free Sunday this weekend.
