WIGTOWNSHIRES PRIMARY SCHOOLS INDOOR NETBALL LEAGUE GOES TO REPHAD

The first Indoor netball league for the primary schools within Stranraer came to an exciting close on Monday 30 March in the Ryan Centre.
This was the first time the primary schools have competed in an indoor league and after 3 weeks of training sessions with volunteers from Stranraer Ladies Netball League all teams competed weekly over an eight week period leading up to Monday’s closing games.
All 10 teams competing played each other at least once. The league was very close came to an exciting climax within the last few weeks. League points were counted on the last night and all schools were invited for a fun night of skills, practices and games along with a small presentation.
During the presentation all teams were rewarded for their efforts and their improvement over the weeks had been praised by all teachers/coaches and umpires. Rephad A were rewarded as the league winners making them the first indoor primary netball champions
In second place were Kirkcolm who had an outstanding run in the league, only losing two games and narrowly missing out on top stop.
In third place was Park who again fought hard in the league and only losing three games.

The primary indoor league has been supported and umpired by volunteers from Stranraer Ladies Netball League, who also added 3 awards to the presentation. The first award was for Sportsmanship Award and this was presented to Sheuchan primary school. There were two awards was for ‘Outstanding Contributor’ and they were awarded to Scott Harnett from Belmont primary school and Wilson Sloan from Glenluce primary school.

took part. I hope the weather is fair over the summer and allows the Summer League to be just as successful as the indoor league has been.”
The summer league will commence on Monday 11 May at Stair Park MUGA and all school’s entering a team will be invited to a training day with Stranraer Ladies Netball League volunteers on Monday 27 April at Stair Park MUGA from 3.30pm – 5.00pm.
