Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will shortly begin resurfacing of the A75 at Bridge of Dee, near Castle Douglas.
In order to deliver this surface patching project as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to implement a daytime convoy system between Friday the 7th and Saturday the 8th of August.
The surfacing of this 0.5km of the A75 will be delivered following strict physical distancing protocols in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance. In association with Transport Scotland, we have identified these projects as essential maintenance schemes, vital to maintaining the integrity and safety of the trunk road network.
Michael Pagan, Scotland TranServ’s Network Area Manager said:
“Scotland TranServ and Transport Scotland would like to take this opportunity to thank drivers for making only essential journeys over the last few months, and for playing their part in protecting the country’s key workers.
“We have implemented many new working practices across our own workforce and those of our contractors and suppliers as we work towards the future delivery of our maintenance programmes. Thorough risk assessments have been carried out as we take a lead in the delivery of trunk road maintenance.
“This is an important section of the trunk road network, and as such is used by emergency services, freight, retail and delivery traffic as part of their essential working. It is vital that we complete these works in order to maintain road safety. Works will be carried out overnight in order to reduce the impact on communities and businesses as they recover at this time.” The convoy traffic management system will be implemented during the following times:
· Friday the 7th of August – 8am until 5pm
· Saturday the 8th of August – 8am until 5pm
