Advance Warning – A75 Halfway House to Three Lochs Resurfacing

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out resurfacing works on the A75 from Halfway House to the Three Lochs, between Newton Stewart and Glenluce.

This short programme of work will be delivered under daytime convoy working, in order to reduce disruption to the local community and businesses.

Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing protocols throughout the project, in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.

Alan Murray, Assistant Planned Maintenance Manager said:

“It is vital that we complete these works in order to maintain road safety. This is an important section of the trunk road network, and as such is used by emergency services, freight, retail and delivery traffic as part of their essential working. This short programme will be carried out under daytime convoy working, in order to reduce the impact on communities as they recover at this time.
“We have implemented many new working practices across our own workforce and those of our supply chain partners as we work towards the future delivery of our new maintenance contract. Thorough risk assessments have been carried out as we take a lead in the delivery of trunk road maintenance.
“Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland, would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their patience while we deliver this important improvement project.”

In order to deliver this short programme to resurface 1.8km of the A75 between Newton Stewart and Glenluce, it will be necessary to implement daytime convoy working during the following times:

  • 7.30am until 6pm on Monday 21st of September
  • 7.30am until 6pm on Tuesday 22nd of September

Drivers are advised to allow some additional time for their journey to pass through the convoy. Live trunk road information can be found by visiting trafficscotland.org, or by following @trafficscotland on Twitter.

Emma Burns, Amey’s Planned Maintenance Manager added:

“An efficient and well-managed trunk road network is particularly important to supporting essential supply chains and the wider economy across South West Scotland at this time. Working in collaboration with Transport Scotland, we have identified a number of essential maintenance projects, which are being prioritised over the coming weeks.

“Amey fully recognises the importance of a safe and reliable trunk road network and we are supporting Transport Scotland as they expect to invest £471million in maintenance in 2020/21. The health and safety of our workers and those working on our behalf, is of the utmost importance, and projects will only be taken forward where we can ensure their safety as a priority.”
