COLD BLAST EXPECTED TO HIT THE REGION TONIGHT

The Met Office have issued a Yellow (Be Aware) warning that during tonight and tomorrow morning there is a chance of a drop in temperature and some icy patches likely on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths through Saturday night and early Sunday.

The Met Office stated “As temperatures fall tonight, Saturday,March 16th 2019, ice may become a hazard across Dumfries and Galloway, mainly for untreated surfaces. This is particularly likely for upland roads where there is either lying snow or further wintry showers. The showers will produce sleet, hail and above 200-300m there may be the odd cm of fresh snowfall.

What to expect

  • Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
  • Increased likelihood of accidents or injuries
