Driver Dead and Three Teenage Passengers Injured in A74(M) Collision

Police Scotland report that a 22 year old driver of a Ford Fiesta is dead and three tennage passengers who were travelling in the vehicle have all been taken to hospital with serious injures after a one vehicle collison on the A74(M) in Dumfries and Galloway last night. 

The road was closed until after 6.00am on Thursday the 2nd of May, Not long after reopening another colision involving a HGV vehicle and a van caused the A74 to be closed again.

A police Spokesperson stated “At around 9.05pm on Wednesday 1 May 2019 a one vehicle road traffic collision happened on the southbound carriageway of the A74(M) road near to Ecclefechan involving a Ford Fiesta car.
As a result the 22 year old driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. An 18 year old male passenger was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, and two female passengers, aged 16 and 19 years were taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with what are described as serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The road at the scene was closed to allow a full road collision examination to take place.”
