Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking essential carriageway resurfacing on approximately 1,169 metres of the A76 trunk road between north of Carronview and Dabton from Tuesday 2nd May until Friday 12th May 2023. Work will take place between the hours of 7pm and 6am, each night.
Please note, works will pause over the Bank Holiday weekend (between 6am on Saturday 6th May and 7pm on Tuesday 9th May 2023).
This scheme, with a value of £341,000, will benefit around 2,880 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
The work will be carried out using a combination of total overnight closures, convoy, and temporary traffic signals at this location.
Between Tuesday 2nd May and Friday 5th May, there will be convoy working in place between Dabton and the A702.
Between Tuesday 9th May and Friday 12th May, the A76 will be closed between north of Carronview and the A702. Daytime temporary traffic signals will be in operation to allow for the cooling of deeper sections of treatment material.
Diversion information for the closures is as follows:
A76 northbound traffic will be diverted on to the A702 at Carronbridge and will proceed in a northerly direction to the Abington Services Roundabouts to join the B7078. From here, traffic will continue to Millbank and will turn left onto the A70, Ayr Road eastbound towards Cumnock. Traffic will be able to re-join the A76 at Dettingen Roundabout where diversion will end.
Southbound traffic will follow the same route but in the reverse direction.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
