OVERNIGHT TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS ON DUMFRIES BY-PASS FOR NEXT 3 MONTHS

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking an essential VRS (Vehicle Restraint System) replacement on the A75 Dumfries Bypass between Cuckoo Bridge Roundabout and Bloomfied Roundabout from Sunday 26th January to Monday 28th April 2025, weather permitting, as follows:

  • From Tuesday 28th January until Monday 28th April, single lane carriageway closures and temporary traffic lights will be in operation between the hours of 7pm and 6am each night.
  • The pedestrian footpath at this location will be closed from Sunday 16th March until Monday 28th April 2025 with diversion route provided utilising temporary signalised crossing points to the opposite side of the carriageway.
  • Total closures of the Dumfries Bypass in this location will be in operation from Sunday 26th January until Tuesday 28th January, from Sunday 16th March until Monday 17th March and from Sunday 27th April until Monday 28th April 2025 between the hours of 7pm and 6am each night. This requires a diversion of traffic as follows:
    • Eastbound traffic will be diverted south on A76 Glasgow Rd followed by A76 Glasgow St – A780 Buccleuch, A780 Church Cres, A780 Academy St, A701 Edinburgh Rd and A75 Bloomfield Rbt which is the diversion end
    • Westbound traffic will be diverted via the same path as eastbound traffic but in reverse

Please be advised that temporary average speed cameras and a temporary 30mph speed limit will be in operation from Sunday 16th March until Monday 28th April 2025. This is in place for the safety of pedestrians utilising temporary signalised crossings as part of their diversion route.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
