Resurfacing On The A701 North Of Amisfield Commences Friday 23rd June

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking the essential resurfacing of 1,300 metres of the A701 north of Amisfield, between Blairhall Road and Forest of Ae. Work will take place from Friday 23rd June until Thursday 29th June 2023.

This scheme, with a value of £397,765, will benefit around 6,200 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

The work will be carried out under full road closures at this location in two phases.

Phase One requires a full weekend closure from 7pm on Friday 23rd June until 6am on Monday 26th June 2023 with a signed diversion route in operation.

Phase Two requires three consecutive overnight closures, between the hours of 7pm and 6am each night, on Monday 26th JuneTuesday 27th June, and Wednesday 28th June 2023. A signed diversion will be in place. Traffic management will be removed by 6am on Thursday 29th June 2023.

The diversion route is as follows:

Traffic intending to travel northbound on the A701 will be diverted to travel on the A75 eastbound and at Brownrigg Roundabout, will join the A709 eastbound. From here, traffic will continue to Lockerbie and will turn left onto the B7076 to travel in a northerly direction. Traffic will be able to re-join the A701, south of Beattock.

Southbound traffic will head north on the A701 and will turn right onto the B7076, south of Beattock. From here, traffic will continue in a southerly direction to Lockerbie and will turn right onto the A709 to head west to Brownrigg Roundabout, before joining the A75 westbound to reach the A701.

On Saturday 24th June, due to an event, an alternative diversion route will be in operation. Northbound traffic will travel east on the A75 to Annan to take the B723 north to Lockerbie to join the B7076 and then the A701 south of Beattock. Southbound traffic will take the route in reverse. HGVs using the M6 and A74(M) will be diverted via the A74(M) at Junction 17 to avoid Hoddom Bridge.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
